Hue Server App Reviews

8 Customer Reviews:

Missing functionality

Works just fine, you have to type out the scenes you would like to activate. Slightly annoyed the favorite options don’t work.

Cannot locate the bridge – total waste of money.

Cannot say more than the title states. Save your money.

With the new update, the app works great and add great hue control functionality to my Mac. Great add on if you use the Hue Remote app for your home lighting.

App neither interfaces with the iPhone app (as claimed) nor controls lights independently. Any time I try to do literally any action, the app quits. Upon manuallly re-launching it, it has forgotten my hue bridge and I have to manually re-sync (including typing in the IP address by hand). As soon as it syncs properly, you try ot use it and it quits again.

The app sorta works, but nowhere near advertised. For the app itself, I bought the app for the Automator control. The app does connect to the hue controller has some basic controls that can be used. The Automator functionality works okay, but it wasn’t clear that it requires a separate download from the developers website. However, the part that left me very disappointed was that I missed the fact that the “Hue Remote” app is required for full functionality (it isn’t even mentioned until the end of the expanded description). Without it scene based commands don’t work. To add insult to injury, I found out the hard way that Hue Remote app is no longer available. After some searching, if found that the Hue Remote app was more or less replaced with the “Kontrol for HomeKit” app, which is not backwards compatible with Hue Server. For now, I’m going to have to give one star until it is (hopefully) updated to use the Kontol app or similar. Until then, don’t waste your money. There are free apps that have more functionality than this crippled version.
